The most ironic part is that Hummer remains true to its tradition of being a "gas guzzler," as the EV SUV is among the most energy-hungry electric vehicles on the market. Still, I don't think this will be an issue for Hummer buyers, as fuel consumption was never the brand's appeal. People buy a Hummer for the prestige and opulence it represents. It's a symbol of success—a vehicle you purchase purely for enjoyment.
Hummer is synonymous with extravagance, and this holds true when it comes to the price of the EV SUV. In Canada, it's offered in two versions. First, there's the 2X version, with a starting price of $134,224. Then, there's the 3X version, starting at $147,224. The primary difference lies in the number of motors: the 2X has two electric motors, while the 3X adds a third.
Did the world really need a Hummer EV SUV? The answer is likely no, but the American manufacturer's SUV is here and appeals to a specific clientele. The same can be said for other large luxury and prestige electric SUVs. Ultimately, the GMC Hummer EV SUV remains a luxury product, and that's fine if buyers are fully aware of it.

General Motors did a great job with the design of the new Hummer lineup. The EV SUV is clearly an evolution of previous Hummer models, and you couldn't ask for more. It's instantly recognizable and undoubtedly turns heads wherever it goes. Personally, I think it's a complete design success.
As for the interior, the American manufacturer has done an excellent job too. Boxy aesthetics are very trendy right now, and that's exactly what the Hummer EV SUV offers. Beyond aesthetics, the SUV is very spacious and comfortable.
When it comes to technology, General Motors pulled out all the stops, both in entertainment and safety. The 2025 GMC Hummer EV SUV boasts some of the most advanced driver-assistance technologies on the market. GM even pushed the boundaries with features like "Crab Mode." While the manufacturer claims this system can be useful, let's be honest—it's mostly for show. But that doesn't stop us from appreciating it.
As mentioned earlier, the GMC Hummer EV SUV offers two powertrain options. It starts with the 2X version, equipped with two electric motors delivering a total output of 638 horsepower and 809 lb-ft of torque—impressive numbers for a base model. The 3X version ups the power to over 833 horsepower and 1,206 lb-ft of torque. These figures are borderline absurd, especially considering the SUV can go from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3.7 seconds in its 3X version. The Hummer EV SUV can also tow up to 7,500 pounds, making it highly versatile.
The SUV features a 200 kWh battery pack, which is enormous. This allows it to store enough energy to offer a range between 488 and 505 kilometers, depending on the version.
The rebirth of the Hummer brand is an event in itself. As for the EV SUV, it's truly a symbol.
The 2025 GMC Hummer EV SUV is one of those vehicles that exist not for logical reasons but simply to satisfy desires. It's the kind of vehicle you choose with emotion.
