Chevrolet made a bold statement to the competition with the debut of the eighth-generation C8 Corvette in 2020. Delivering an exotic mid-engine sports car for under $100,000 was a daring move. Since then, numerous versions have been added to the lineup, bringing the Corvette even closer to its European rivals.

The ZR1 version is the latest addition to the Corvette family. This time, the engineers have outdone themselves mechanically with a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces an astounding 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque. The American sports car is also capable of reaching a top speed of 375 km/h (233 mph).

A Ridiculously Competitive Price

Let’s not forget that the starting price of the Corvette Stingray is $90,825. The E-Ray version starts at $150,319, while the Z06 is priced at $159,319. Each version offers incredible value for money. However, with such performance, it was expected that the ZR1 would be significantly more expensive, and it is. The price for the American sports car was just announced in the United States at $174,995 USD, which translates to just over $250,000 CAD. This officially makes it the most expensive Chevrolet Corvette in the model\'s history.

It’s a considerable sum, especially for a car whose entry-level version still costs under $100,000. Nevertheless, perspective is essential. With its 1,064 horsepower and 375 km/h top speed, Chevrolet’s sports car rivals models like the Ferrari SF90 and Lamborghini Revuelto—cars that cost nearly four times as much. Granted, the Chevrolet Corvette doesn’t offer the same level of prestige or finishing quality, but rest assured, you’ll get far more value for your money with this car than with its competitors.

The ZR1 Is Not the End of the Line

Ironically, the ZR1 won’t even be the ultimate version of the current Corvette generation. Chevrolet has announced an even more powerful version, called the Zora. Needless to say, we can’t wait to see it. According to the American automaker, the Chevrolet Corvette Zora will be unveiled later this year.

In the meantime, good luck getting your hands on a ZR1. Its exceptional performance and aggressive pricing are likely to make it very popular. Don’t be surprised if the first models to hit the used car market are priced significantly higher than new ones.
