Will the GMC Canyon Ever Off An AT4X Trim?

The future 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X in the desert.

Does the GMC Canyon Have an AT4X Trim?

The midsize pickup truck class is one of the most interesting segments in the automotive industry right now. Several automakers, including Chevrolet and GMC have excellent platforms to offer Budds’ Chev customers, but that hasn’t stopped competitors from trying to close the gap. GMC is ready to unveil a new trim grade for the 2023 Canyon that will match up with something that was introduced for the Sierra lineup in 2022. Our manufacturing partner will pull the curtain back on the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X this summer. Let’s take a look at a few things we know about it.

What Will Come With the 2023 Canyon AT4X?

GMC has already introduced several AT4 models to its recent lineup. The AT4X designation will build on that trim grade’s off-road capability with a few additional features. At this point in the development process, details are a bit scarce. However, in the teaser image that is posted at the top of the page, we can already see a few salient details, including:

  • AT4X badging
  • Rocker protectors
  • 17-Inch beadlock-capable wheels

Chevrolet has already produced its own off-road-ready midsize pickup truck, the Colorado ZR2. Since the Colorado and Canyon are cousins, Car and Driver magazine has surmised that the new GMC midsize truck trim will borrow some features like Multimatic’s spool-valve dampers, locking front and rear differentials and Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires.

Similarities with the 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X

Since the 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X already exists, we can also make a safe bet that the Canyon AT4X will get some additional creature comforts like heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. A full suite of infotainment connectivity technology is also all but guaranteed to be standard equipment in the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X.

Be sure to check back with the Budds’ Chev blog regularly for updates about the 2023 Canyon AT4X, when the information becomes available.
