The 2022 Silverado ZR2 is Ready To Head Out

What is the ZR2 package for the 2022 Chevy Silverado?

Not many full-size pickup trucks have as impressive of a resume as the Chevy Silverado. For many years it has been prized for its remarkable balance between performance and efficiency. When the 2022 Silverado goes on sale at Budds’ Chevy, an all-new trim grade will take over the flagship role – the Silverado ZR2. So, what is the ZR2 package for the 2022 Chevy Silverado? First, the Silverado ZR2 is more than just an available accessory package. It is a new trim that is focused on off-road performance. Let’s take a closer look at a few things you can expect to see when the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 goes on sale.

2022 Silverado ZR2 Performance and Capability

Chevy certainly did not cut any corners when providing the 2022 Silverado ZR2 with an appropriately potent powertrain. Each one has a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre, V-8 engine under the hood that will make up to 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It is attached to a 10-speed automatic transmission to get the best possible balance between performance and fuel economy.

“Chevrolet has a reputation for building trucks that have incredible performance and capability that Canadians rely on for work and play,” Michael MacPhee, brand director for Chevrolet Canada, said in a press release. “With the reveal of the New 2022 Silverado, we build on our legacy and introduce the first-ever Silverado ZR2 – Chevrolet’s ultimate full-size off-road truck ready for any adventure.”

In addition to providing the power necessary to power through the roughest terrain, the 2022 Silverado ZR2 has a powertrain train that will be able to haul up to 653 kg (1,440 lbs.) in the cargo bed and tow up to 4,037 kg (8,900 lbs.).

What Makes the Silverado ZR2 Off-Road-Ready?

It takes more than a beefy V-8 engine to be able to tackle the most demanding off-road environments. For the first time, Chevy is using Multimatic 40 mm DSSV spool-valve dampers. These cutting-edge suspension components use three separate spool valves to control damping and three connected valves for fluid flow. Compared to Chevy’s previous off-road trim grade, the Trail Boss, the ZRS will offer more maximum front and rear suspension travel.

Dings, dents and scratches are bound to happen when driving out in nature. Chevy engineers have equipped the 2022 Silverado ZR2 with replaceable end caps on the bumper so they can be easily replaced when damaged.
