New Equipment and Updates for the 2022 Chevy Silverado in Canada

Nothing quite gets people interested in the available inventory at Budds’ Chevy like the announcement of what the latest Chevrolet Silverado has to offer. Our manufacturing partner has announced some new equipment and updates for the 2022 Chevy Silverado in Canada. Among the most exciting additions to the 2022 Silverado lineup will be the flagship ZR2 edition with out-of-the-box off-road capability, as well as the addition of Super Cruise on the top-of-the-line High Country models. We’re not sure yet when the new Silverado will arrive at our showroom because of ongoing production delays. However, that can’t stop us from taking a look at what will eventually be available.

“Chevrolet has a reputation for building trucks that have incredible performance and capability that Canadians rely on for work and play,” Michael MacPhee, brand director for Chevrolet Canada, said in a press release. “With the reveal of the New 2022 Silverado, we build on our legacy and introduce the first-ever Silverado ZR2 – Chevrolet’s ultimate full-size off-road truck ready for any adventure.”

How is the 2022 Silverado ZR2 Different?

The Chevy Silverado is already a very capable vehicle platform. However, future owners who like to go mudding or overland driving need something different. Before the availability of the ZR2, off-road enthusiasts spent thousands of dollars on aftermarket parts to get their trucks ready for the trails. Chevy engineers did the work for Budds’ Chevy customers by equipping the Silverado ZRs with:

  • Standard 6.2-litre, V-8 engine
  • 10-speed automatic transmission
  • Multimatic 40 mm spool-valve suspension dampers
  • Increased front/rear suspension travel
  • Terrain Mode (one-pedal rock crawling)
  • Exclusive skid plate package

2022 Silverado New Technology Features

Chevy equips most 2022 Silverado trim grades with a 13.4-inch touchscreen interface that will handle the bulk of the vehicle’s multimedia functions. Additionally, LT trims and above will be compatible with several popular devices through the Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ suites of applications, as well as the Amazon Alexa digital home assistant. Future 2022 Silverado owners using Android-based phones will be able to employ Google voice-activated apps by using the phrase, ‘Hey, Google,’ or by pressing the push-to-talk button on the truck’s steering wheel.

Is Super Cruise Available with the 2022 Silverado?

The Super Cruise system is among the most well-respected driver-assistant technologies in the global automotive industry. Super Cruise has been available on several vehicles contained under the General Motors’ umbrella for a while. However, the 2022 model year will mark the first time it is available with a full-size pickup. When the system is engaged, Super Cruise will collect information from various other systems and sensors to semi-autonomously drive the truck on a marked road. Super Cruise can be used on more than 320,000 km (200,000 miles) of roads in Canada and the United States.

Chevrolet has adapted the Super Cruise system installed in the 2022 Silverado to help drivers with towing. When a trailer is attached, the Super Cruise system will make imperceptible adjustments to account for increased drag and stopping distance.
